A water-breathing dragon?…Only in the Southland. What better way to beat the heat on a summer day than to visit this unique Universally Accessible Playground at the Corona-Norco Family YMCA in Riverside – the first accessible playground of its kind in this region.

The dragon, which is woven into the design of the surfacing, contains misting nozzles that can cool little knights and princesses down on a hot day, while his extended wings provide imaginative places to play in the shade.

This playground also features the first Shane’s Inspiration “Sensarock” – a unique sensory wall that is made of a variety of textures and interactive features. Press a wheelchair-height button and hear the sound of animals…press another and activate a steady stream of water. In addition, periscopes offer the opportunity to spy on friends and gain different perspectives, talk tubes let kids chat with each other, and fabulous mazes test hand-eye coordination…all under watchful eye of the water-spraying beast.

Our deep gratitude to the staff and directors at the Corona-Norco Family YMCA and the community for working with us to create a wonderful, inclusive playground.

This park is only available to YMCA members.
