Entering this playground, which is surrounded by lush trees and the cries of animals, you feel as if you’ve embarked on a wild safari…alligators crawl slowly out of the surfacing, while gorillas stare out from the wood chips...elephants bask in the sun. And these are just a few of the creatures that emerge from this exciting Universally Accessible Playground!

In addition to being absolutely enchanting, the Neil Papiano Play Park at the Los Angeles Zoo offers physically rehabilitative and engaging equipment, such as:

• Play pods and a spinning disc help children with developmental disabilities, such as Autism, Cerebral Palsy, and various neurological disorders, develop a better sense of balance – something that is critical for their growth.
• A variety of slides, including a textured slide, promote body awareness for children with a wide range of disabilities, both physical and developmental.
• Our Cool Topper is a creative and visually stimulating shade structure. Shade is a critical factor for many disabilities, as medications and certain conditions can prohibit children from spending too long in the sun.
